Denjo
The Banker
Denjo, his social media moniker for his full name Deniel Jose is very much visible online nowadays. With his countless features on online magazines, Photoshoot Pages, and Facebook groups, Denjo has been a staple to his close-to 80,000 followers on Instagram. This #TEAMPSUPER is a fitness enthusiast, a brand ambassador, a model, and a singer who also dabbles in song writing, and a lot more.
Unknown to many though, Denjo works as a central clearing operations supervisor for a bank. His job - he constantly does a lot of verification and fraud assistance to hundreds of people everyday to help them on their finances. He has been in this industry for quite a long time now and his dedication to his job is unquestionable. When everyone had to stop work or had to work at home because of the lockdown, Denjo was still called to report to his office and he has been reporting nonstop.

“We are Business as usual. I work as a verification employee on one of the biggest banks here in our country. Everyday we process transactions involving cheques. I don’t have a car and I pretty much rely on ride-hailing platform services. When that ride application was stopped because of the Extended Community Quarantine, I have no choice but to walk to and from work everyday. I walk 6 kilometers every single day just to be at the office. The risk of exposure is really high and it doesn’t end there. We talk and communicate to people everyday. It’s part of our job. “ explains Denjo
People like him in the banking industry are a vital part of our economy. They do their job so we can stay afloat and help us continue in our day-to-day transactions. As tedious and problematic it may seem, Denjo loves his job to its core. “The work is sometimes toxic, but since the first day I reported for work... I already fell in love with it. It became my passion to serve people through financial service. We bankers must continue to serve our role for the sake of not just the economy… but for the people who needs our services the most.” says Denjo.

Because of this pandemic situation, there have already been a lot of forecasts of a looming financial meltdown after this. According to some analysts, this might even be worse than the 2008 financial crisis.
“Most businesses are closed right now. The manufacturing industry is affected. Almost all services-providing companies are suspended. And government funds are on the brink of total depletion. We must brace ourselves for an incoming recession due to this crisis.” says Denjo.

But the optimistic in him believes that this has been a good wakeup call to many. “We should appreciate and learn that we only live once. We must be grateful for everything, even in the smallest and the simplest things in our lives. Life is precious and we tend to take it for granted. Spend your time wisely. Be with your family. Be with people who really matters to you the most. Tell them you love them. Say this with all your heart as much as you have all the time right now. Never hesitate because we don’t know what tomorrow might bring.” says Denjo.
Our banker has chosen to be positive all throughout this time. You can see him, more often than not, posting funny photos to document his slices of life at the office. No trace of all the difficulties that he had to endure just to go to work. This character of his has totally endeared him to his thousands of supporters online.

And his final word for all of us… “Let’s help each other as we battle to end the war against NCOV. This is the biggest war humanity has ever faced in recent history. We all have different roles to play. I have to work to help us stay afloat. For people who are at home, you’re doing a great job for staying at home. If you think front liners are heroes, you are also heroes for helping save lives just by staying at home. Stay healthy and spread positivism in social media. Spread love not hate. In the end, I seriously believe that love will keep us alive.” ends Denjo.
